Dancing Kelp is a five-foot illuminated outdoor sculpture designed by Canadian artist Amanda Hall and handcrafted in the Comox Valley.

Built with marine-grade SIMONA BoatBoard HDPE, a thick semi-opaque acrylic diffuser and heavy-duty steel supports, it is our strongest and most substantial Light Tower.

Outdoor art by day. Sculptural light by night.

Inspired by the kelp forests surrounding Vancouver Island, Dancing Kelp creates a striking architectural feature by day and transforms into an illuminated sculpture after dark.

Its powerful solar lighting system charges throughout the day, turns on automatically at dusk, stays illuminated through the night, and switches off again at sunrise.

The thick semi-opaque acrylic backing diffuses the light across the full five-foot design for a bright, even white glow.

No hardwiring or outdoor outlet required.

Premium Marine-Grade Construction

The decorative panels are made from SIMONA BoatBoard, a premium marine-grade HDPE.

As the BoatBoard name suggests, this material was developed for marine applications and is commonly used in boat construction. It offers exceptional resistance to UV exposure, salt air, moisture, strong winds and impact.

Compared with the PVC used in our standard Light Towers, SIMONA BoatBoard creates a heavier, more substantial panel with the durability and presence expected from a premium architectural product.
