In Japanese decorative art, the ginkgo’s distinctive fan-shaped leaf has long carried symbolism as well as beauty. Known as a symbol of longevity, the ginkgo tree can live for over a thousand years. It is also a symbol of profound endurance, as four ginkgo trees famously survived the blast at Hiroshima and continue to grow today.
